Have been playing round and experimenting considerably with a lot of different logo ideas, some which are very literal and others which have a bit more to them. Here are a few below…
Not sure that any of these are particularly exciting or successful. I think many of them are to literally and obvious. For a logo for a place that is so diverse and filled with culture and interesting things I think that none of these logos are that exciting. They are also relatively large at the moment and I feel that once scaled down that they will loose quality and a lot of the typography will be unreadable.
These two are probably my more favoured, there more dynamic and exciting however the 1 and the 4 seems to pose a problem to people when I show it to them they think that it is museum 14 or quarter 14 not actually a fraction.
These are probably the best out of all of my designs so far, the numbers are less obvious as numbers and look more like shapes and the typography is a lot more readable. Im still not 100% happy with these either tho. Going to go and do some further research into the history of Henry Cole and see if this will give me ideas and also experiment with the letter M & Q n see what interesting shapes these letters can make. The other museums have tended to use typography and letters in their logos and I think that this would be something nice to continue on into my design.
